DigitalOcean vs Vultr – which is the best VPS hosting

I am considering Cloudways for hosting the website of the company I work for. The thing is, our pagespeed is really slow, mostly the time to first byte (TTFB).

I am now undecided between DigitalOcean and Vultr HF. I don’t really understand the RAM, processor, storage, bandwidth criteria. I am afraid, I might end up choosing a plan that could become an overkill for our need. Which plan would you think suit us best or best value for money?

N.B.: It’s a B2B company. We are aiming for speed and performance. Our monthly pageview count is 40000-60000. but it is expected to grow in the coming year.

If speed and performance are important and money is no object, I suggest you go for Vultr HF. Heard lots of good things about it.
Disclaimer: I use Cloudways + DigitalOcean and never tried Vultr HF yet, because one of my clients have less than 1000 visitors. But if they decide to have a very serious marketing strategy, I would’ve recommended VHF.

which country audience you are targeting? Also Vultr HF is good option but few months outages has been seen. You can still try that out. DigitalOcean is always the best choice. Go with 4GB server and deploy your site, run for few days and check the performance. Scale your server to 8GB when required.

I’m new to all this myself but am currently looking into paid DNS as part of the puzzle piece to increase my TTFB also.

Go with 2GB on DigitalOcean, and see the performance of the server. You can upgrade anytime, if you feel that 2GB is not sufficient.

If you are looking for best performance and can afford It, go for GridPane. It is expensive than Cloudways but you Will like. Find out , which is the best Cloudways vs GridPane

I would say just go for vps near your local location. It will work perfectly splendid for that number of visitors.

It depends on what plugins you plan on running. If it’s resource intensive, Vultr HF would be a good start. If not DigitalOcean/Linode is fine. Would start with the lowest plan and scale up from there if you see a need or go with best  WordPress hosting – here’s the list : best WordPress hosting reddit , a list by Reddit users.

You might want to ignore these speed comparisons. TTFB depends on too many factors which make these comparisons obsolete.
It mostly depends on the website itself, unless you are on a poor server. The more plugins you use, the heavier the theme is, the poor the code is, the slower your TTFB will become. This is because the server has to process PHP and MySQL before delivering a page.
On that note, if you do not understand CPU, RAM etc. why are you after VPS hosting?
Get a shared hosting, if needed with more of these resources.

Vultr HF is an excellent choice, and definitely faster than DigitalOcean.
