Recommend Best WordPress Website Migration Service ?

Is migrating from one WordPress host to another complicated or time-consuming? Are there any services you’d recommend that can help with it?

Answers:

It is so simple, you have many tools/plugins for that, I have tried them many, but All in one WP migration plugin proved to us to be extremely simple and it simply works (on all major hosting, and more!).

If some hosting has its own in-house migrator plugin, you may try those 1st, as they are specially tailored for that particular hosting.

All in One WP Migration plugin is dead simple. It’s just a few clicks – export the file and import it back again on a new hosting. You must have done a million times on desktop applications to export a file and open it back again. This is very similar.

You don’t need to bother with any services if you choose a hosting provider that does migration. For example, when I changed the provider, my current provider (I use Rocket net) migrated all my websites for free, and even promised to migrate everything back in 30 days, if I decide to leave.

No. It is done all the time. I use the Duplicator plugin. Some hosts have migration tools. Then you have to re point the domain name.

Depends…. Migrating e-mail can be a thing. there is a period where visitors can end up on old & new host and so do the e-mails. So it should be planned properly.

I have moved about 60 sites with Cloudways WordPress Migrator this year. Very easy! There are other migration plugins but since I only host on Cloudways, I haven’t tested any others. For me, it’s fill in 8 fields, hit start, grab a coffee.

Many hosting providers will help with that migration. I use updraft plus for my migrations

If you are migrating to different host, then usually the host offers some kind of help in their plans… If they don’t have then use Migrate Guru.. it works like a charm.

No, the actual moving takes little time, the preparations takes a bit longer. Package the site using a migrate plugin, All in one migration seldom lets me down (if your site is large, buy the unlimited extension). After your domain name is moved, start up a new installation on the new host (install SSL first), and then install with the same migrate plugin. This is my preferred method of moving new builds from my dev server to client server.

Moving a WP site is not complicated. There are plugins to do this yourself, and many web hosts provide a migration plugin or manual migration services. Are you using email with this site? Moving email is a bit more complicated.

Duplicator plugin all in one, all thats required is you create a database on the other end and then follow the instructions, its so easy and free!

I have used duplicator 10 times and have to follow the video every time.
This last move I tried All in one and about 10 clicks and it’s done. Only needed an extra plugin if the website is bigger than normal from all in one. Easiest move ever!

You are moving two things. Database. FTP Files/Folders. Thats it

What everyone else has said: websites are easy, email is hard.
If you have a good backup plugin with a good installer (the free Duplicator plugin or the premium BackupBuddy) you can install a site on a new server very easily. (I do this all the time — sometimes daily — to move between development servers and client servers.)
Most decent hosting companies have migration support and some will do it for you as a signup bonus. Still others, usually “managed” WordPress hosts, actually require you to use their migration tools.
Moving email from one shared host to another is a lot trickier. More like a big pain in the butt. My advice is if your email on shared hosting with your site then consider moving it somewhere permanent — everyone with a mailbox will have to update their SMTP and IMAP/POP settings anyway so why not get it over with once and not worry about it again. (Gmail or Microsoft will both automate migration of old accounts and messages, some not sure of the expensive ones like MXRoute or Zoho.)

I think it’s relatively easy to move cPanel mail to another cPanel host. And some hosts will handle it in their automatic migration.

But TBH since I focus only on site performance I’ve also just let clients keep their mail on their old hosting and pointed their A record at the VPS or whatever.

I’ve recently been referring mail migration to small-biz IT people. That’s been going really well. I really don’t enjoy doing IT and IT people often don’t enjoy twiddling websites so they refer those clients to me. So we’re both happy and the clients are better served.
