what’s the benefit of Cloudways ?

Hi all,
Sorry if this is a silly question, but what’s the benefit of Cloudways (of which I keep hearing positive things) over just hosting on the underlying provider directly?
For example, the basic Vultr-based service seems considerably more expensive than Vultr’s own plan/s.
Thanks in advance.

I have been on Cloudways for almost a year now and the biggest benefit is their support that I have experienced so far. So server configuration is one thing but the team goes out of their ways to assist in website and plugin configuration. Thats happened with me many times and will be different for each individual and your relationship with the support person. It is double the price of what you can get directly from the provider but I have tried doing the direct with Vultr but I can’t even get the email support to fix my WP Admin login. So I will have to delete the account.

Hi Adam, this is Moeez from Cloudways. The difference is that we make your server management and configuration super easy through our platfrom. We also have 24/7 365 support team that is there for you for all types of server issues that you might face.
Cloudways also comes with a stack that further optimises your server and application for speed and performance.
Let me know if you have more queries. Thanks

You usually need a server management software which provide a stack optimized for your applications. Good stacks with good support also cost money. CW does combine both in one, and give the benefit that if something is not working the server provider cannot blame the stack provider and the other way around.

CW doesn’t provide a good stack nor good support. Their stack is dated and nonsensically heavy.Hard to see any benefits.

You’ll need to know how to configure your VPS if you get it from the provider directly.

that means (i’m not super expert) that if I migrate my shared hosting to Clowdways they will autoconfigure everything I need to run my site properly?

Yes, 80% or so of it. There are still things to set up on the backend. How much traffic are you getting?

Ok. I’m not familiar with Cloudways if they are easily scalable or not. But you’ll probably want to start with a 2GB box droplet minimum for non-Woocommerce. checkout cloudways vs gridpane

The benefit of Cloudways is that they manage these servers for you, Like managed WordPress hosting

I love all of the “let me answer your question by selling you on our hosting service. It’s far superior on every conceivable axis. Let me count the ways…”
The correct answer is you’re paying for a slick dashboard and decent support. Unless your time and sanity is worth nothing, the nominal difference in cost is well worth it.
You can make FAR worse choices in hosting than Cloudways. As you can see here your options to do are nearly unlimited.

For me, it’s about time, convenience and peace of mind. I do not have the time to spend fiddling around configuring servers and/or troubleshooting issues, and the Cloudways platform makes it super easy. The relatively small premium vs doing everything myself is easily worthwhile.

Cloudways saves a lot of headaches. Even if you can manage your own server sometimes the hassle isn’t worth it.

Can you give a summary of what makes your server performance oriented?
I am using Centos Linux, NGINX as a proxy server in front of Apache and Varnish cache, MariaDB and PHP 7.4. What makes your servers more optimized for WordPress? What about security?

They provide a control panel to manage your VPS and provide support for that control panel. Somewhat similar to cPanel/DIrectAdmin and other control panels but not quite like them.
