What is SSL?

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer

In short, it is the standard technology for keeping internet connections secure and safeguarding any sensitive data that is being transmitted between two systems, preventing criminals from reading and modifying any information that is transferred.

This includes potential personal details. Both systems can be server and client (for example, shopping websites and browsers) or server to server (for example, applications with personally identifiable information or with payroll information).

Then, why do you need to activate SSL? The reason is simple, because sending, uploading and receiving data is a very crucial phase.

Why is it crucial? Because the process can involve the irresponsibility of hackers, data thieves, and so on. That’s why SSL is quite important. So, if you don’t understand what SSL is and how to activate it, see the tutorial until it’s finished!

How to activate SSL on cpanel

Bluehost Hosting already provides free SSL features on all of its hosting plans. By default this free SSL feature will be automatically activated within a maximum of 2 x 24 hours. Because the Bluehost Hosting system will automatically install at 12.00 and 00.00. However, if you want to speed up the installation process, you can follow these steps:

STEP 1: Log in to cpanel hosting, if for example you don’t know how to enter Cpanel, you can read the following tutorial > Cpanel Login Tutorial via Member Area

STEP 2: Enter the SSL/TLS status menu

STEP 3: On that page a list of domains including your subdomains will appear along with the SSL Activation status in them. If the status is red, it means it is not active and if it is green, it means it is active.

STEP 4: To activate SSL which is still red, please tick to the left of the domain or subdomain

STEP 5: Then click Run Auto SSL, later the SSL activation process will also be completed in this process.

After that, wait for the SSL installation and validation period of approximately 8 hours.

If your SSL has not been active for more than 8 hours, please check again on the menu, there will be a description of the status. If the installation fails it will be explained on the page the cause of the installation failure.
