Can someone help me understand why I would want to use Cloudflare? Ive been buying domains from godaddy and setting the dns to my vps where I host a few sites. I’m planning to move to a cloud hosting with separate email so a lot of things will change, I know.

Cloudflare DNS is one of the fastest and it’s very reliable. If you use standard GoDaddy DNS you will be pleased. If you are on GoDaddy premium DNS – I don’t know. Cloudflare can act as a proxy / WAF / CDN. Exact functionality depends on settings and your price plan.

Though the same can be achieved with other DNS solution, they aren’t as effective as Cloudflare for various limitations which are not dependent on those solutions.
